Check Endorsement Stamp Information and Format

April 5, 2012

An endorsement rubber stamp will save you time when processing payments made by check for deposit in your bank account.  Properly endorsing a check will help protect it should it become lost or stolen before it is deposited.  A rubber stamp makes endorsement of a check quick, easy, and accurate.

The standard copy for an endorsement stamp includes the following information in the format shown:

PAY TO THE ORDER OF

YOUR BANK NAME

YOUR BANK NUMBER

FOR DEPOSIT ONLY

YOUR COMPANY NAME

ACCT# (YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER)

Your 9 digit bank number is the second series of numbers, reading left to right, on your unprocessed business check, and the first number, reading left to right, on a personal check.

Your bank account number is the last series of numbers, reading left to right, on your unprocessed business check.  On a personal check, your account number is the second series of numbers, reading left to right.

Have your bank confirm the bank number and account number prior to placing your order for an endorsement stamp.

The endorsement information must fit within the endorsement area on the back of the check.  Use a stamp that prints an area 2½” wide by 1″ high.  That size stamp is sufficient to contain all of the endorsement information and will comfortably fit the endorsement area of a standard personal check as well as a standard business check.

Red ink is often used for endorsement stamps, but black or blue ink will due.

KC & CO. offers pre-inked, self-inking, and traditional handle mount rubber stamps that are suitable for check endorsement.  You can enter your endorsement stamp information and complete your order online.
